BEST EXTINGUISHERS EVER
my son and son in law are firemen - they have both been after me to ADD these to the 6 dry chemical extinguishers we already have. even though we are very rural, I'd been resisting - resisting UNTIL they had me watch a video showing how quickly a room can go up. I bought FIVE of them and I am happy I did. also - the contents of DRY CHEMICAL EXTINGUISHERS ARE EXTREMELY CORROSIVE - these are water and will result in much less damage (assuming you put out the fire) they come with the standard Schrader air valves - so you DO NOT need the fill adapter ( P/N Amerex 00155 pressure valve and cap assembly) to fill it regardless of what vendors may tell you.
"Can the water extinguishers be refilled and reused?"
Yes they can, just unscrew the top, get the garden hose and refill to mark (line) on the inside of the can. Screw the top back on, there's a air valve at the top part (you just screwed back on), use an air hose to top off the can. You will need to watch your pressure gauge while you are doing this, and not go over the green section of the gauge and over pressurize the can, be very careful doing this.
"Can I fill this at home?"
You need water, air hose, (with an air chuck) and compressed air, if you have all of that you can fill at home. Pay attention to what you are doing, you should have an gauge on the extinguisher you need to stay within the green. Over or under the green section and you will get yourself in trouble.
"do you have replacement gauges for the water cans"
They are available, if we don't have in stock they can be ordered, P/N Amerex 06479. Call our Call Center and ask them to order the gauge for you, and if they don't know what your asking for ask to contact me and I'll help them out.
"Does this come with a mounting bracket?"
Sorry you have to order a mounting bracket as a separate line item, it will not come with the P/W
"Is the inside of the extinguisher glass lined or stainless steel?"
Jim, no glass liner inside, just the stainless steel that is the same inside and out.
"How much does one weigh when fully charged?"
Jake, a gallon of water weighs approx 8.2 lbs. so with 2.5 gallons of water being about 17 lbs. and the weight of the extinguisher together somewhere around 30 lbs. total
"What is the correct psi for the tank?"
Fred we sent you a copy of the recharge directions in a different e mail
"is there an anti-freeze charge or solution which can be added so this extinguisher can be stored in a vehicle in sub zero temps?"
Chief, Amerex P/N 506 is the anti freeze solution to add to the P/W, good for 3 years and then will need to be replace.
"How many psi can the 2.5 gal water extinguisher be filled to also does it hold 2.5 gal of water or a prenentage of air and water?"
There is a mark on the inside of the extinguisher that tells you how much water to add, once you have done that you add the air to the extinguisher through the air valve and watch your pressure gauge, when it shows you are in the green (you want it to be in the center) of the green. DO NOT OVER PRESSUREIZE it beyond the GREEN. unscrew the top, get the garden hose and refill to mark (line) on the inside of the can. Screw the top back on, there's a air valve at the top part (you just screwed back on), use an air hose to top off the can. You will need to watch your pressure gauge while you are doing this, and not go over the green section of the gauge and over pressurize the can, be very careful doing this
"Does it come tagged?"
Not 100% sure what you mean by the term ""tagged"", if you mean is it tagged and ready to go into service, then the answer is no. for it to be tagged it would need to be filled with water, it does not come that way.
"Are there parts available, and source?"
William we can supply you the parts you will need, we will send you the drawing and part numbers for you to choose from look for this in a different e mail
"does this can come with standard SCHRADER air valve or does it require an adapter to pressurize it?"
Dennis, you will need this P/N Amerex 00155 pressure valve and cap assembly, it does not come with the extinguisher.
"What is the correct vehicle mounting bracket to pair with this extinguisher?"
P/N 862 HD bracket
