Q&A's:

"womens extra large compares to what numbered size"

Per the manufacture the size would be size 11-13.

"What size does small and medium of the socks compare to for womens sizing? My mom wears a shoe size 7 - 7.5 US - would that mean medium sock fit ?"

Large fit women sizes 8-10, Medium fits women sizes 6-7.

"I'm looking for a sock for a wide foot. Person suffering from edema. Feet are swollen up to the knees"

There will work although they are not compression socks. These are strictly for covering the feet as a normal sock would.

"Would I need a mens' large or extra large for my Dad? He wears a size 10 shoe, but has edema in his feet which makes his left foot very swollen (about 2-3 sizes larger than normal) and the other foot swollen to about 1 size larger than usual. Any help or suggestions you give me will be appreciated."

Try the XL this size will fit a foot size from 10-13 which should accommodate your Dad's foot. This is not a compression sock so it will not help with his edema. They are comparable to normal socks the only difference is they are made to try and prevent accidental falls.

Buy your Dad the XXXL ""bariatric"" double-tread socks. My husband is normally a size 10 1/2 and they appear to be too big for him, but they stay up and don't compress his feet harder than compression stockings do. He definitely prefers the XXXL to the regular men's sizes.

"why are the soles double sides?"

They are double sided so you can put them on both ways. This way there is no top or bottom.

"how long are these socks?"

These socks are measured by shoe size. They do not give the size in inches.

"Are these socks soft and warm, like terry on the inside?"

Yes, they are.
